Sammanfattning: The study below aims to investigate how music teachers which is active in primary school work with the school’s democratic mission and how students own influence takes its form in the classroom. The teachers who participate in the study discuss the concept of democracy and in which way the students will take responsibility or not. This is based on the three concepts: democracy, influence and participation. The teachers also concludes that if the given subject is within the student’s interest they will be more willing to influence and take responsibility over their own studies and development. The study will discuss concepts as deliberative pedagogy, John Deweys perspective on education and how social relationships plays a significant role in the classroom.
