Myanmar Peace Support Initiative

Sammanfattning: The actions of states are governed by norms. These norms regulate what is looked upon as desirable behaviour and what is not. In recent years the norm about women, peace and security has developed and resulted in the UN Security Coun-cil Resolution 1325. The aim of the resolution is to make peace processes more inclusive and take issues related to women into concern. Despite the resolution much is to be done in the process of implementing the norm. A strategy to imple-ment UNSCR 1325 has been for states to develop National Action Plans for this. In this thesis I conduct a case study of the peace process in Myanmar. The pur-pose is to analyse how the projects in the process correspond to the financing countries action plans. The result of the research is that some traces of 1325 can be seen in the peace process but far from what is desired in the action plans. The example shows the difficulty in implementing norm, which is due to the unspecific character of norms.
