Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Institutionen för kulturgeografi och ekonomisk geografi

Sammanfattning: The aim of this study is to investigate what driving forces that affect the localisation of business establishments in cultural and creative industries in rural areas. This was done through a qualitative case study in the village of Skåne Tranås, placed in the eastern rural parts of Scania. The data gathering was done through five interviews, four with entrepreneurs in the village and one with a local governmental official. The theoretical framework consists of theories on traditional localisation factors, localisation factors based on cultural environments in rural areas as well as the impact of formal- and informal institutions in society. The results suggest that several factors influence the decision of locating a business in rural areas. The access to good societal infrastructure, where the cultural environment meets the entrepreneur’s preferences and where formal and informal institutions contribute and encourage development are of importance for the decision of localising a business in rural areas.
