ÅNGEST, DEPRESSIVA BESVÄR OCH LIVSKVALITET HOS PATIENTER INOM VUXENPSYKIATRINS ÖPPENVÅRD OCH PATIENTER SOM REMITTERATS VIA VÅRDVALET

Sammanfattning: Question: The purpose of this study was to study if depression, anxiety and quality of life differ between patients from an outpatient psychiatric clinic (ÖPM) and a private psychotherapy clinic in “Vårdvalet Region Skåne” (PMV) as well as to study if depression and anxiety correlate to quality of life in these patients. A further purpose of the study was to study if quality of life amongst patients in this study differed from age and gender-matched individuals from the normal population. Material: 20 and 20 consecutive patients, respectively, were recruited in connection with new visits at ÖPM and at PMV. Method: In connection with a first visit, the patients completed the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), assessing anxiety and depression, as well as EQ5D, addressing health-related quality of life. Results: The patients from ÖPM, compared with PMV, rated higher with regard to anxiety and depression. However, only the proportion of clinically significant depressed patients was higher at ÖPM. No significant difference in quality of life was seen between patients from ÖPM and PMV. When comparing quality of life in the whole group of patients with an age and gender-matched group of individuals from the normal population, the quality of life was significantly lower amongst the patients in this study. A statistically significant inverse correlation between anxiety and depression, both as evaluated by HADS, and quality of life as evaluated by EQ5D-VAS, (r=-0.38, p=0.017; r=-0.35, p=0.028), respectively, was also seen in this study. Conclusions: Patients at ÖPM generally had more pronounced anxiety and depression symptoms than at PMV. Whilst depression and anxiety were found to be moderately associated with quality of life in these patients, quality of life was still not different between patients in the two open-clinics.
