Valideringens funktion inom barn- och ungdomspsykiatrin

Sammanfattning: The aim of this study was to examine how therapists reflect about the importance of validation in their clinical work with children and adolescents at Barn- och Ungdomspsykiatrin (BUP). The study is qualitative and had a design with three focus group interviews with a total of thirteen respondents. The interview guide was half structured and every session lasted for two hours. The results show that all the respondents highlight the value of constant use of validation within their therapy sessions. They picture that validation is an important key to reach alliance with the patient. It is clear that the therapists use different validation strategies when they meet children compared with adults. The researchers make new findings that have not been found in previous science, empirics that do not match our theoretical basis. These findings contents how the respondents through play, a more explicit body language, more physical contact, an affirmative attitude and creative practice matches and adapts their validation strategies when they meet children in the therapy room. They describe a distinct difference in their way to validate children. Finally, the results show that validation reinforces the therapeutic relationship between and is a necessary factor to make the patient safe and able to participate in a process of treatment.
