Stränder med erosion och ackumulation längs kuststräckan Trelleborg - Abbekås under perioden 2007-2018

Sammanfattning: The ongoing global sea-level rise shifts sediment dynamics at the coast to an increased degree of erosion. Skåne is experiencing a relative sea-level rise, since post-glacial rebound is insignificant in the area. For these reasons, it is important to monitor beach erosion in Skåne as part of planning for future use of the coasts. In this work, a GIS-analysis was performed on the Trelleborg - Abbekås coastline, to see if there has been a change in the position of the beach line and the dune base between 2007 and 2018. This aimed to answer whether the coast has been subject to erosion, accumulation or has remained unchanged throughout the period. The results of the study show that beaches with accumulation are found east of Trelleborg harbor, east of Gislövs läge harbor, along Böste läge and at Bingsmarken. Beaches subject to erosion are found at Beddingestrand and Skateholm. The harbors and coarse sediment on the seabed present a likely obstacle to the westward sediment transport in the area, which may explain the accumulation. Causes of erosion are not as clear, but a limited sediment supply to these areas is suggested. There has been a general growth of sand dunes in the entire study area and only smaller areas showing erosion. This suggests a recovery after one or more instances of strong erosion, possibly after the storms Gudrun and Per. The results have been compared with the assessment of beach erosion made by the Geological Survey of Sweden. This assessment is broadly in line with the results of this report but has overlooked two short but significant areas of accumulation and erosion.
