Vattenskador i småhus - En jämförelse med VASKA och dagens branschregler

Sammanfattning: Water damages have been an expensive problem for Swedish house owners for many decades and costs society billions of Swedish kronor every year. In an attempt to reduce the number of water damages, and the severe consequences there off, a project called VASKA was launched in Umeå in 1987. In the neighbourhood of Ersmark there were 24 houses built, all following the list of requirements set by VASKA. For example the list contained rules how to install piping, waterproofing and fitting of floor drains. In this thesis we have compared the frequency of water damages in houses from VASKA and a control group with statistics from Vattenskadecentrum, all in order to examine if VASKA have had the intended effect. The control group consists of houses similar to the houses from VASKA and are all built in the same time period. A survey was used to examine both VASKA and the control group. The answers given in the survey points to a lower percentage of water damaged houses within the VASKA-project. Of the 15 survey forms answered by VASKA residuals only two damages was recorded, one from a frozen pipe and one where outside water penetrated the roof. In the control group approximately one third of the houses had at least one water damage recorded. Answers from the control group indicate that a majority of the damages occur when the house has passed the age of 20. The statistics from Vattenskadecentrum concerning types of damages is similar to the control group. The most common damage, over 60 %, is a leaking pipeline system. The other nearly 40 % is quite evenly divided by leaking installations and leaking waterproofing. Statistics showing in which room type the damage occurred differs between the control group and Vattenskadecentrum, although the bathroom was most common for both groups. Today there are several industry regulations which are more widespread than VASKA. This thesis addresses Säker Vatten, Säkra våtrum and BBV. Though there are many similarities between VASKA and the contemporary regulations it is clear that a lot has been developed in the last 25 years.
