Att Driva eller DrivA+ En kvalitativ studie av arbetsmotivation hos gymnasielärare

Sammanfattning: This study examines how the teacher's work motivation within the Swedish high school is affected by their work environment. The research takes place within the area of Educational Effectiveness Research, and aims to add to current research by contributing with a management perspective of motivation within the workplace. The area of interest is defined by an empirical work on teachers and principals own experience and how they perceive the role of the teacher. A qualitative method has been executed by interviewing teachers and principals, in the fields of mathematics and Swedish within three high schools in Stockholm, Sweden. Understanding has been the main objective, and the result is presented through a model for motivational structure. Findings show how the profession and feeling of contributing to society plays a big part in the teacher's work motivation, and leads to intrinsic motivation. This motivation is diluted by lacking, external factors which leaves an imprint on the hygiene level of the work situation. Findings shows how the lacking external factors of the work situation is hindering the teachers from achieving full motivation.
