Sammanfattning: Climate change will have a big impact on the built environment especially relating to indoor climate and energy usage. Higher temperatures and insufficient adaptation to heat can have several negative side effects on occupants. This is why it is important to find solutions that can reduce and provide cooling need, preferably without increasing energy usage while also being economically feasible. In this report a multi-family dwelling will be analysed in the case study with simulation software IDA ICE. Several different passive, hybrid and active system are evaluated as to their impact on indoor climate and energy usage. A cost analysis is done for several methods in relation to the building. The results of the case study and cost analysis show that it is possible to create a good indoor climate with passive and hybrid methods. But to achieve the strict demands from certification system a combination of methods or the use of active cooling is needed. Combination of free cooling from boreholes and external movable shading leads to a perfect indoor climate without increasing energy usage too much, this combination is expensive though. Free cooling from borehole by itself gives good results if combination of methods is not feasible. Active systems like portable AC-units should be avoided because their impact on indoor climate is hard to evaluate and they have several other negative aspects. If they are to be used, they should be combined with shading solutions to decrease energy usage. Fixed solar shadings are cheap but have a smaller positive impact on indoor climate than external moveable shaders. Though combined with free cooling from boreholes it will lead to a good indoor climate and can almost achieve all certification system requirements.
