Audionomers uppfattning om hörselrehabilitering

Sammanfattning: Background: Of Sweden’s population, 14.2 % has some kind of experienced hearing impairment. Most of them need hearing rehabilitation to, if possible, improve their everyday life. Aim: The purpose of this study was to examine audiologist’s different conceptions about hearing rehabilitation. Method/Material: Qualitative deep interviews with four audiologists with different backgrounds was conducted and analyzed with a phenomenographic approach. Result: The result of the deep interviews is presented in twelve descriptive categories of the audiologists different opinions about hearing rehabilitation. The result concerns the importance of good cooperation with the patient and relatives in order to improve the patient’s everyday life. Audiologist’s different approaches to rehabilitative features such as group rehabilitation, technical rehabilitation and evaluation are also described. Conclusion: The audiologists uses experience in their work with rehabilitation. They believe they know that their patients get good help even though existing evaluation methods are not adequate. An important part of the work is that the patient should participate and take responsibility for their rehabilitation. Most hearing rehabilitation ends with a technical hearing device, according to the interviewed. There is a difference between the audiologist’s conceptions of their work with hearing rehabilitation.
