"Det som inte hörs, syns inte..." - En studie om kvinnors våld mot män

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Socialhögskolan

Sammanfattning: The main goal with our paper was to examine women's violence against men in relationships, and if the subject is taboo. The study we used is qualitative based on eight interviews with professional personnel which in their work have been in contact with abused men in the region of Skåne. We also interviewed one man who has been a victim for abuse by his partner. To be able to analyze our qualitative interviews we used a gender perspective and different violence concepts. We also used previous research and other literature about the subject. Our result showed that women often use mental abuse, but they are also engaged in physical and material violence. The real figure for men who are abused is large, one reason could be society's views on the roles men and women are expected to fulfil. The men find it embarrassing and feel shame for being abused by their female partners. They are also afraid of being distrusted if they tell about their experiences, by authorities such as the police for example. This could prevent the men from reporting the abuse. It is a fact that society doesn’t know how to handle this kind of social problem, because there are no efforts made to help the abused men, nor efforts to help the women with aggressive behaviour either.
