Bör vänstern bedriva queerkamp? En argumentation för queerkampens förenlighet med det antikapitalistiska projektet

Sammanfattning: This thesis argues that the socialist movement should engage in the struggle against heteronormativity. It examines the arguments which are set up against the socialist movement’s engagement in identity politics, suggesting that a struggle based on sexuality appropriate for the socialist movement should focus on the social order it aims to attain, and not on improving the status of the subordinated sexual identities within the hierarchical and oppressing system itself. It shows that the struggle against heteronormativity can be consistent with the anti-capitalistic struggle, and criticizes the distinction between a cultural and an economic sphere made by the political philosopher Nancy Fraser, arguing that no social practices can be just cultural or just economic. It points out that there is a connection between the organisation of normative sexuality and the organisation of capitalism, which means that fighting heteronormativity can be understood as a way to fight capitalism. The methodological strategy of the thesis is mainly based on idea criticism.
