Sammanfattning: This study investigates how language teachers in Swedish in compulsory school, in accordance with the new curriculum where sexuality, consent and relationships is a new field, plan to teach about honour-related violence and oppression. This area fits well within the Swedish language subject since it focuses on developing communicative competences (Skolverket 2022). This is investigated with the following research questions: (1) how do language teachers in Swedish plan to teach about honour-related violence and oppression? and (2) what support do language teachers in Swedish feel they have received and have to be able to teach students about honour-related violence and oppression?  This was investigated using an online survey with 18 questions. The questions were answered by fourteen teachers, all of whom are authorized to teach Swedish. The result showed that the majority of teachers had not yet planned this area. Several teachers also stated that they do not feel that they have enough knowledge in the field to confidently teach about it. None of the teachers who responded to the survey stated that they received support from their principal to increase their knowledge and competence regarding honour-related violence and oppression, although it is the principal’s responsibility. The results also show that several teachers want to use literature teaching to deal with honour-related questions. The study shows that it is important to further investigate and develop didactic, as well as cross-curricular topics on school-wide issues.
