Sammanfattning: This essay was written with the knowledge that Gunnebo’s landscape management plan is in need of revision, mainly to adapt its maintenance to new research and updated national environmental goals. The cultural reserve’s ditches are mentioned in passing in the care plan but there is no overall or collective documentation of the ditches structure or origin. Adding Gunnebo's ditches to a section in the upcoming revision of the management plan would contribute to benefiting biodiversity and, in some areas, also increase the authenticity of the historical landscape. In a cultural reserve like Gunnebo, with maintenance in mind, there are many aspects to take into account and different values to promote. By promoting a certain value, one may neglect another. It is therefore important to identify the area's various values and discuss a prioritization order based upon these. In the results of the study, various values and management effects have been discussed, mainly with cultural heritage and biodiversity in focus, but also with functionality and reasonable efforts in mind. The reasoning is based on historical and geological maps that can tell a lot about the area's historical land use and contemporary soil dampness and ecology.
