Leksaker i den fria leken i förskolan : Ett genusperspektiv

Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study is to increase knowledge about how gender patterns reflects served in boys and girls free play at preschool. Concepts that are central for this study is elucidated through theoretical starting points. Observations as a method have been the basis for this study, where a number of boys and girls in the age of 4-5 years old have been observed during the free play both indoors and outdoors. This survey method was used to answer the following questions; Which toys do boys and girls use in the free play at preschool? How do boys and girls use these toys in the free play? The study results illustrate that there are both similarities and differences in how boys and girls using toys. According to the results, it appears that girls and boys play more often with toys that are gender-neutral outdoors than indoors and that the traditional gender pattern is not as obvious in the outdoors environment. The expectations that is placed on boys and girls have through previous research and the results of this study proved to be important for children’s play.
