26. Investigation of Outflow Boundary Conditions for Convection-Dominated Incompressible Fluid Flows in a Spectral Element Framework
Master-uppsats, KTH/Numerisk analys, NASammanfattning : In this thesis we implement and study the effects of different convective outflow boundary conditions for the high order spectral element solver Nek5000 in the context of solving convective-dominated fluid flow problems. By numerical testing we show that the convective boundary conditions preserve the spatial and temporal convergence rates of the solver. LÄS MER
27. A Comparison of Linear and Nonlinear Finite Element Stabilization Techniques for Fluid Problems
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för informationsteknologiSammanfattning : The standard Galerkin, entropy viscosity (EV) and streamline upwind Petrov Galerkin (SUPG) methods were implemented for the advection equation and the Navier-Stokes equations for an incompressible fluid to determine which of the methods is better in terms of accuracy and time requirements. For the advection equation a disk with a rotating stream was modeled for both a continuous and a discontinuous initial condition. LÄS MER
28. Wave Model and Watercraft Model for Simulation of Sea State
Master-uppsats, Teoretisk Fysik; Tekniska högskolanSammanfattning : The problem of real-time simulation of ocean surface waves, ship movement and the coupling in between is tackled, and a number of different methods are covered and discussed. Among these methods, the finite volume method has been implemented in an attempt to solve the problem, along with the compressible Euler equations, an octree based staggered grid which allows for easy adaptive mesh refinement, the volume of fluid method and a variant of the Hyper-C advection scheme for compressible flows for advection of the phase fraction field. 29. Modeling and Simulation of Elastic Rods with Intrinsic Curvature and Twist Immersed in Fluid
Master-uppsats, KTH/Numerisk analys, NASammanfattning : Understanding the dynamics of thin elastic rods that are immersed in fluid is fundamental in explaining many problems that arise in biology, physics and engineering. Solving the coupled system of rod-fluid in 3D is usually very costly, however in case of low Reynolds number, the three-dimensional problem can be reduced a one-dimensional problem on the centerline of the rod. 30. Level Set Methods for Two-Phase Flows with FEM
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för informationsteknologiSammanfattning : Two-phase flows is a branch of multiphase flows. The aim of the project is to implement two different level set methods and analyse and compare the numerical results. The level set method is used in order to represent the behaviour of the interface between two incompressible fluids in a flow. LÄS MER
