  1. 1. Changes in lake-water organic carbon over recent centuries in northern Sweden, Västerbotten : Past and present mechanisms, and the potential implications on mercury

    Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Magnusson Petter; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Lake-water TOC; Summer forest farming; traditional agriculture; land-use; geochemistry; mercury;

    Sammanfattning : Due to the current increase in lake water total organic carbon (LW-TOC), many studies have investigated the long-term dynamics using lake sediments. However, these have mainly been focused on Sweden’s south and south-central parts. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Carbon Storage in Quaternary Deposits of the Circum-Arctic Permafrost Region

    Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Författare :Annegret Udke; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Quaternary deposits; Carbon storage; Permafrost region; Organic Geochemistry; Sedimentology; Vulnerability; Thermokarst;

    Sammanfattning : Rapid warming in northern latitudes will lead to permafrost thaw and subsequent carbon remobilisation and release to the atmosphere. To incorporate the permafrost carbon climate feedback in globalEarth System Models, it is of importance to know the carbon stored in the circumArctic permafrostregion as accurate and precise as possible. 3. 3. A geoarchaeological study on two Norwegian boat graves : Soil analysis and an attempt of forensic work strategy and thinking in the interpretation of the results

    Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för idé- och samhällsstudier

    Författare :Stefano Vilardi; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Geoarchaeology; forensic approach; Geochemistry; boat graves;

    Sammanfattning : The following paper is the final thesis of two years long experimental work conducted on two different collections of soil samples coming from two different Norwegian archaeological sites. In particular, the first collection of soil samples comes from an identified boat grave from the Viking Age (eg Sykehus area Kristiansand County, Vest-Agder). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Stratigraphy and dating of a lake sediment record from Lyngsjön, eastern Scania : human impact and aeolian sand deposition during the last millennium

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Marijana Stevic; [2019]
    Nyckelord :aeolian activity; human impact; geochemistry; lake sediments; pollen; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : A small lake in north-eastern Scania, southern Sweden, Lake Lyngsjön, reveals a long history of aeolian sand drift based on a 3 meter long sediment sequence covering the last approximately 1400 years. Human impact, primarily through intensified land use and decreased forest cover, has periodically led to increased aeolian sand drift both locally and regionally. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Lake condition changes of a boreal lake over the past ca. 6500 years based on varve geochemistry

    Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Jora Ligtenberg; [2017]
    Nyckelord :varved lake sediment; total element concentrations; biogenic silica; lake-water organic carbon; Holocene;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this study was to assess changes in the in-lake conditions of lake Kassjön, northern Sweden, in response to environmental and climate changes over the past ca. 6500 years. LÄS MER
