  1. 1. Experimental studies of radiation damage in uranium nitride

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Fysik

    Författare :Maria Giamouridou; [2023]
    Nyckelord :uranium nitride nuclear fuel; advanced nuclear fuel; uranium nitride fabrication; uranium nitride characterisation; Spark Plasma Sintering; proton irradiation; irradiation damage; TANDEM accelerator; irradiation induced cracking; irradiation induced hardening; irradiation induced swelling; hydrogen implantation; dislocation loops; kärnbränsle av urannitrid; avancerat kärnbränsle; tillverkning av urannitrid; karakterisering av urannitrid; Spark Plasma Sintering; protonbestrålning; strålningsskador; TANDEM-accelerator; strålningsinducerad sprickbildning; strålningsinducerad härdning; strålningsinducerad svällning; väteimplantation; dislokationsloopar;

    Sammanfattning : The effect of proton (H+) irradiation on uranium mononitride (UN) and UN compositefuel with 10 at.% ZrN (UN10at%ZrN) was examined. Protons of 2 MeV with fluences of1E17, 1E18, 1E19 and 1E20 ions/cm2 were accelerated towards the fabricated samples in orderto investigate the evolution of the micro-structure. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Nuclear Structure near the Proton Drip-line: A Search for Excited States in 62Ge

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Dalia Farghaly; [2022]
    Nyckelord :nuclear physics; nuclear structure; proton drip-line; excited states; germanium; fusion-evaporation reaction; experimental nuclear physics; gamma sphere; gamma spectroscopy; HPGe detectors; data analysis; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : An experiment to study mirror symmetry in the mass A = 60 region was performed at the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) in 2020. The fusion-evaporation reaction 40Ca + 24Mg → 64Ge* at a beam energy of 106 MeV was used to populate excited states in 62Ge. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The Channeling Effect in Ultra-Thin dE-E Monolithic Silicon Telescopes

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Kärnfysik

    Författare :Fredrik Parnefjord Gustafsson; [2017]
    Nyckelord :dead-layer; Channelling; The Channeling effect; Plasma effect; Nucleosynthesis; Astrophysics; Ultra-thin silicon detectors; Inhomogenous Big Bang; MST; deadlayer; Pelletron; 8Li; cross-section; Kikuchi pattern; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : A new method has been proposed to study the low energy resonances of 8Li(alpha,n)11B at Ecm ≅ 0.5 MeV using dE-E Monolithic Silicon Telescopes (MSTs). Each telescope consists of five ultra-thin ∼1 µm (dE) silicon detector pads on a ∼500 µm (E) silicon detector. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Channeling of MeV ion beams : Improving sample alignment at the tandem accelerator, Ångström laboratory

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad kärnfysik

    Författare :Ludvig Svensson Sjöbom; [2014]
    Nyckelord :rutherford backscattering; RBS; channelling; tandem; accelerator; thin film;

    Sammanfattning : At the Tandem accelerator in the Ångström laboratory, Uppsala, Rutherford backscattering spectrometry (RBS) is one of the methods used for thin film analysis, providing information on thickness and composition. The films are commonly grown on silicon substrates, whose crystal structure gives rise to channelling effects (a strong angular dependence in the intensity of the signal), which can cause faulty results. 5. 5. Structural and electrical characterization of graphene after ion irradiation

    Magister-uppsats, Experimentell fysik

    Författare :Di Cristo Valentina; [2010]
    Nyckelord :graphene;

    Sammanfattning : Graphene is a recently discovered material consisting of a two-dimensional sheet of Carbon atoms arranged in an hexagonal pattern. It is a zero-gap semimetal whose electrical properties can be tuned by controlled induction of defects such as vacancies. In this work, graphene flakes were produced with the standard method of mechanical exfoliation. LÄS MER
