   Sammanfattning : This essay explores the foreign policy rhetoric of China through its official press agency Xinhua’s English web-based version in the case of China’s territorial dispute with Japan over the Senkaku/Diaoyu//Diaoyutai (S/D) islands. The dispute was brought to life in September 2012 and the essay covers Xinhua’s rhetoric between then and September 2014 through a rhetorical analysis of articles published on the matter at five different time intervals.
