  1. 1. Syntetiskt pärlemor : Producerat via in situ-kristallisation

    Master-uppsats,

    Författare :Pontus Blomberg; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Biomineralisation; Aragonite; Calcium; Carbonate; CaCO3; CNC;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes a sequence of experiments which have been performed with the intention to produce synthetic nacre. Synthetic nacre is a biomimetic material based on nacre, a material which can be found in mollusc shells. Nacre is a nanocomposite which has improved mechanical properties compared to the principal component aragonite (95% wt%). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Record of the end-Triassic mass extinction in shallow marine carbonates: the Lorüns section (Austria)

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Linus Brakebusch; [2022]
    Nyckelord :sedimentology; geochemistry; ooids; oolites; oncoids; oncolites; Triassic; Jurassic; Rhaetian; Hettangian; ocean acidification; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The end-Triassic mass extinction (ETE) was one of the five big mass extinctions of the Phanerozoic and occurred ~201 Ma ago. Research agrees that the main triggering factor for the ETE was the eruptions of the Central Atlantic Magmatic Volcanic Province (CAMP), linked to the break-up of the supercontinent Pangaea. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Methods and Approaches for Biogenicity Determination in Geological Samples - Implications for Extraterrestrial Search for Life

    M1-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Alexandra Zetterlind; [2018]
    Nyckelord :Biogenicity; microscopy; fossilized microorganisms; astrobiology; Biogenecitet; mikroskopering; fossiliserade mikroorganismer; astrobiologi;

    Sammanfattning : For a better understanding of how to search for an extraterrestrial life, scientists study hidden biospheres on Earth. The subseafloor crust is recognized as a vast microbial habitat and it is hypothesized that extremophilic microorganisms, occurring there, can be the first living organisms on Earth. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Size and Abundance of Late Pleistocene Reticulofenestrid Coccoliths from the Eastern Indian Ocean in Relation to Temperature and Aridity

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Jeroen van Dijk; [2017]
    Nyckelord :coccoliths; abundance; biometry; circular polarized light microscopy; Late Pleistocene; Marine Isotope Stage 11; kokkoliter; mängder; biometri; cirkulär polariserat ljus; pleistocen; Marine Isotope Stage 11;

    Sammanfattning : Measurements on coccolith abundance and mass can be used as a signal of primary productivity and pelagic calcification in response to environmental change. The Leeuwin Current (LC) is known to transport warm and low-salinity waters from the Indo-Pacific Warm Pool (IPWP) southwards along the coast of West Australia. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Paleoecology and sedimentology of the Upper Cretaceous (Campanian), marine strata at Åsen, Kristianstad Basin, Southern Sweden, Scania

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Faisal Javed Iqbal; [2013]
    Nyckelord :Campanian; Belemnellocamax mammilatus Zone; Belemnellocamax balsvikensis Zone; Brachiopods; Bivalves; Belemnites; Bryozoans; Barnacle; Sea urchin; corals; coprolites; shark teeth; vertebrate fossils; XRF; Sr Ca; Steinkern; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The Campanian marine strata from Åsen, north east part of the Kristianstad Basin (southern Sweden) contain a most diverse vertebrate and invertebrate marine fossil assemblages. A diverse fossil fauna was collected from Campanian deposits from a ca. 4.15m thick section during June-August 2010-2012. LÄS MER
