    Sammanfattning : With the advent of increasingly advanced spectroscopic instruments after the turn of the century, it has become accessible to unravel the structure of instantly ‘vanishing’ nuclei, with lifetimes as short as 1 μs, and responsible for pile-up events in analog electronics. Experimental data has been recorded by the Nuclear Structure Group at Lund University for 48Ca/50Ti + nat. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Dead layer determination for the new implantation detector of the LUNDIUM decay station

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Eleftheria Kosta; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The Nuclear Structure Group in Lund, focuses on nuclear spectroscopy of decays of rare isotopes. A new decay station, called LUNDIUM, is currently being built, which will involve silicon and germanium detectors for the study of these nuclei. This thesis focuses on the characterization of one of the new silicon detectors, the implantation one. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Assessment of the Capability for Vetoing Beta-Decay Events in the Lundium Decay Station

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Tanvir Sayed; [2022]

    Sammanfattning : Alpha decay spectroscopy using the latest and most sensitive detector setup as well as fast sampling read-out electronics has become very important for discovery and analysis of short-lived nuclei created in collision experiments in the laboratory. The Nuclear Structure Group in Lund is currently developing the Lundium Decay Station for use in comprehensive nuclear spectroscopy of decays for rare isotopes, particularly in the heavy & superheavy region. Sammanfattning : This report outlines the first stages of the development of the Neutron Activation Analysis station at the Lund Ion Beam Analysis Facility in the Division of Nuclear Physics, Lund University. The motivation for this project is to use the Neutron Activation Analysis detection technique for environmental monitoring around the European Spallation Source, soon to come into operation. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Simulation of Anti-Compton Shield Augmentation to the Lundium Decay Station Using Geant4

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Daesung Cho; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Lundium; Geant4; Anti-Compton shield; gamma spectroscopy; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The Lundium decay station improves on the existing TASISpec spectrometer used to investigate the nuclear structure of superheavy nuclei by photon- and charged particle-spectroscopy. This thesis aims to explore the potential benefits of the future Lundium station with the augmentation of anti-Compton shields com- posed by a set of BGO scintillator bars. LÄS MER
