  1. 11. γ-aminobutyric acid Rich Foods : methods for production and the effects of intake

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Department of Molecular Sciences

    Författare :Agnes Sjöblom; [2021]
    Nyckelord :gamma-aminobutyric acid; GABA; GABA tea; fermentation; functional food; probiotics; lactic acid bacteria;

    Sammanfattning : The current widespread interest in healthy lifestyle creates a demand for functional foods. New nutritious food products and supplements are launched on the market and products enriched with γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) constitutes some of them. γ-aminobutyric acid is a widely present amino acid in plants, animals, fungi and microorganisms. 2. 12. The effects of eutrophication and browning on prey availability and performance of the three-spined stickleback (Gasterosteus aculeatus)

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. Of Aquatic Resources

    Författare :Olivia Bell; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Baltic Sea; benthic habitats; body growth; climate change; coastal areas; diet; fish; stickleback; zooplankton;

    Sammanfattning : Shallow coastal areas often have high productivity and diversity, in part due to the high availability of light and nutrients. At the same time, they are exposed to multiple environmental pressures, such as browning and eutrophication. LÄS MER

  3. 13. I like to move (it) - Use of outdoor space in a mixed exhibit of ring-tailed lemurs (Lemur catta) and red ruffed lemurs (Varecia rubra) at Furuvik Zoo

    Master-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Biologi

    Författare :Gabriel Aritz Robinson González; [2021]
    Nyckelord :ring-tailed lemurs Lemur catta ; red ruffed lemurs Varecia rubra ; zoo mixed-exhibit; use of outdoor enclosure; lemur behavior; environmental enrichment;

    Sammanfattning : By studying how captive animals use outdoor space, we can determine which areas fulfill their biological and behavioral needs to improve enclosure design for animal welfare and visitor experience. The aim of the study was to determine the differential use of outdoor space in a mixed exhibit of captive ring-tailed lemurs (Lemur catta) and red ruffed lemurs (Varecia rubra), and to assess both the effect of adding environmental enrichment and possible visitor and meteorological effects on the lemurs’ use of space and behavior. 4. 14. Spatial and temporal variations in stable isotope signatures (δ13C and δ15N) of the gammarids and the common carp in the southern coast of the Caspian Sea

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. Of Aquatic Resources

    Författare :Nazila Hajizadeh Koupayeh; [2020]
    Nyckelord :carbon stable isotope; Caspian sea; Cyprinus carpio; food webs; Gammarus aequicauda; nitrogen stable isotope; Pontogammarus maeoticus;

    Sammanfattning : Despite the growing body of research on the use of stable isotope analysis in food web studies, spatial and temporal variations in stable isotope ratios of coastal communities are still poorly understood. The aim of my study is to explore how carbon and nitrogen stable isotopes of selected benthic communities vary spatially and temporally across the south of Caspian Sea. LÄS MER

  5. 15. The effect of environmental enrichment on the behaviour of meerkats, banded mongooses and dwarf mongooses in human care.

    Master-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi

    Författare :Alejandro Berrio Pozo; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Meerkat; banded mongoose; dwarf mongoose; enrichment; foraging;

    Sammanfattning : Animals in captivity can be deprived of performing some of their natural behaviours. Using enrichments may allow them to express a larger part of species-specific behaviour repertoire and with a better frequency distribution. This study focuses on three species of the family Herpestidae which live in captivity at Bioparc Valencia (Spain). LÄS MER
