    Sammanfattning : The Roan peninsula in western Norway, Vestranden, is known for exposing one of the deepest parts of the Scandinavian Caledonian orogen, similar to the Western Gneiss Region. Throughout the Roan area, eclogites and high-pressure granulite- and amphibolite-facies gneisses occur, associated with supracrustal rocks including marbles, calc-silicate rocks and amphibolites.     Sammanfattning : The iron apatite mineralizations of northern Sweden are mainly situated in supracrustal rocks and are thought to have formed during approximately the same time as the major plutonic suites in northern Sweden. In this thesis the Malmberget iron apatite ore deposit have been compared to the Kiruna iron apatite ore deposit to see whether the role of hydrothermal processes are different between the two ore districts.     Sammanfattning : Detrital zircon were sampled from five rivers in Ghana and they were analysed in situ for U-Th-Pb, O and Lu-Hf isotopes. Based on the analyses, their U-Pb crystallisation ages, δ18O isotope ratio, εHf and Hf-model ages were determined.
