Våldsutsatthet och föräldraskap - Hur våld i nära relation påverkar kvinnors föräldraskap, ur anställda på kvinnojourens perspektiv.

Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study has been to evaluate how women who have left a violent relationship function in their partnering skills. In order to implement the aim with our study, we conducted seven semi-structured interviews with employees and volunteers from women shelters around Skåne. The collected data has been coded and then analyzed based on the theoretical concepts of shame, trauma and attachment theory. Furthermore, the result shows that based on the employees' experiences in their encounter with the women, several factors played a role in affecting the parental ability. How women's parental ability was affected is also highly individual, according to our interviewees. In summary, the study highlights the importance for professionals in the field to be aware of the overall picture in the womens well-being. For example, by not isolating sleep difficulties and memory loss to that the woman is just tired the discovery that the woman is traumatized can be made. By being attentive, the woman can get the help she needs both as an individual and as a mother.
