Sammanfattning: Older people are an increasing group of Internet users, but their usability needs when using digital technology are not always being met. In this qualitative study the usability for older adults of a Swedish e-commerce website, and the Internet and mobile technology using habits of older people were investigated. Five participants were recruited to participate in an observed think aloud test followed by interviews where feelings and opinions about the user experience were expressed. The purpose of the study was to investigate what potential obstacles could occur for older people in the usage of the studied website and how the overall user experience felt like to the participants, to gain a deeper understanding of accessibility, usability and user experience for older people in the context of ecommerce. The findings of the study were that the website was perceived as difficult for the participants to navigate and understand, and improvements of the website are proposed in this paper. The results also showed that four out of five participants had experience in engaging in e-commerce and thought of it as a helpful and effective activity, although only one of the participants were used to shopping online using mobile technology.
