Cirkulär Ekonomi : Framtidens Planeringsideal?

Detta är en Master-uppsats från Blekinge Tekniska Högskola/Institutionen för fysisk planering

Sammanfattning: Today, the consumption of products is greater than ever. In order to be able to supply the market with products at the same rate as the consumption, natural resources are being extracted like never before. The majority of the extracted natural resources are after only one-time use, left to the nearest landfill, where it becomes waste. This growing mountain of waste, combined with the fact that the amount of natural resources that can be extracted has decreased, would in the long run become an unsustainable way of life. For the continued survival of the human race, we can no longer treat natural resources in this way. One approach to prevent this negative development is to switch from linear economy to circular economy. The costs of extracting natural resources are higher than ever, which has led to a change in the approach to waste management. Due to an increased awareness among consumers regarding recycled products, there are demands on the market to deliver these products. Recycling, reuse, and processing of waste is therefore today the hottest topic of discussion for many industries. It has also been shown that it is more economical for the industries to use waste as a resource when creating new products.   The purpose of this study is to investigate how municipalities take on this transition from the linear to the circular economy in a community planning perspective. The thesis also intends to create a number of principles in a strategic- and urban planning perspective and at an overall municipal level. To create a picture of how these planning principles can be implemented in cities, the study turns into a project, where most of the principles are used to create a circular society in Kalmar regarding building materials.   Using qualitative methods, the study analyses the work towards becoming more circular for three selected municipalities, Ystad, Helsingborg and Kalmar. The methods facilitate the analysis and therefore provide a picture of how the municipalities work with various projects, both future and present but also already implemented, which affect the circular economy.   The work ends with a project, which is based on Kalmar and visualizes how the principles can be implemented in a city. Analyses are made of the conditions that exist in the city, but also what changes the city would need to implement regarding, among other things, transport, storage and waste management. The project is based on two developed cycles, the materials cycle and the knowledge cycle, which in turn are built on the study's developed principles. The project as a whole creates a booklet in A3. Perfect for printing, for communicating the practical implementation of the essay.
