Var det bättre förr? En utvärdering av det gamla och nya pensionssystemet ur ett universellt perspektiv

Sammanfattning: This essay is about universalism in the welfare state of Sweden. The essay contains an evaluation regarding one of the social insurances which is the pension system. This paper analyzes how universalism has changed in the transition from old to the new Swedish elderly pension system. During the 1990s a new pension system was introduced which is why an evaluation is of interest. Through theories about the ideal universalistic social insurance and feministic theory the essay is trying to evaluate whether the structure of the pension system has affected the degree of universalism. The evaluation is based on four value criteria and seven indicators that value different parts of the construction of the pension systems. The analysis resulted in a conclusion for each value criteria which was examined and analyzed. The result of the evaluation concluded that the old pension system contains a higher degree of universalism than the new one does.
