The countries of the OECD are studied using the ordinary least squares method. Testing for the hypothesis that most of the inflation in 2022 was caused by fiscal and monetary policy during the covid pandemic. The study finds no significant correlation between either fiscal policy or monetary policy for CPI inflation. But finds a moderate correlation between pandemic monetary policy for core inflation during 2022. The study finds that the main driver of inflation in 2022 was caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in that same year. In conclusion, further studies once long-term data is more readily available is suggested.
