Sammanfattning: Linear transportation infrastructure such as powerlines generate documented adverse effects on biodiversity. However, the potential of powerline corridors to constitute habitats, a dispersal corridor, or as potential to create value for biodiversity remains somewhat controversial. This case study investigates what the drivers and challenges are to create value for biodiversity combined with the practical and organisational experiences from key actors, to incorporate these in relation to the local energy company Kraftringen’s operation. The results show that there are many relatively easy steps to take, which can support biodiversity. Although, measures taken are deeply context specific, as the support and protection is not meaningful in a general sense, but only if it is relevant to local biodiversity. Therefore it is concluded that the main opportunities lies within the organisational work, and includes the 1) prioritisation of conservation efforts through mapping and nature inventories of powerline corridors, 2) increasing of knowledge of personnel, specifically vegetation managers and project managers and 3) engaging in joint efforts with local authorities and collaborations within the energy sector.
