Konstruktioner av brottsoffer i svensk press

Sammanfattning: The aim of this study was to illustrate the construction of the concept “victim of crime” in present Swedish press, using a social constructive approach. The empirical material consisted of selected articles from Swedish newspapers in February 2012. Using a qualitative method the analysis was devoted to how victims of crime were represented in present Swedish newspapers and why the victims were represented in different ways. In the analysis victims of crime are described as more or less “ideal” respectively “rebellious” were recorded as well as a tendency to classify victims of crime as “one of us”. The interests behind how victims of crime are represented are described as economical, maintenance of social structure, advocacy or party political. The paper is concluded by a reflection around qualitative and quantitative method and suggests areas for continued or immersed research.
