”Integration, en sån grej som skapar jämlikhet”

Sammanfattning: Abstract This essay is about integration in the small Swedish municipality of Höör, in the south of Sweden. Using a qualitative research approach in the form of a content analysis, I have con-ducted a study concerning female immigrants from Afghanistan. The theoretical framework in this study consists of theories on integration by Diaz and Beckman. Further theoretical framework in the study consists of theories by de los Reyes, Scheff and Azar. In the current study, I examine the way in which the women experience their situation as Af-ghan females who are currently trying to establish a life for themselves in Sweden. I wanted to find out what the Afghan women themselves viewed as a successful form of integration: their expectations and wishes concerning this. In addition to this, I have conducted an inter-view with an integration coordinator in the municipality of Höör. The purpose of the latter interview was to try to get an understanding of its policy regarding integration. I have arrived at the conclusion that the policy of the municipality as a whole correlates with the expecta-tions and wishes the women had.
