En jämförelse mellan volym- och planelement : Ur ett ekonomiskt, tids- och miljömässigt perspektiv

Sammanfattning: The building industry is facing a challenge as in year 2045 they should be climate neutral and have net-zero emissions. One way to reduce the climate footprint is to increase the production of wooden houses. Wood as a material is well suited to the prefabricated construction technology. The purpose of this thesis was to compare two different prefabricated construction technologies: plan and volume elements. The comparison considers the economic, time and environmental aspects and was performed with a multiple case study, interviews and literature search. The case study includes six different projects where half are built with plan elements and half with volume elements.  This thesis shows that volume elements are less expensive and more time efficient than plan elements. It’s 2900 – 4000 SEK cheaper and 0,81 hour faster per square meter to use volume elements than plan elements. Plan element on the other hand have a lower carbon dioxide emission per square meter. Plan elements emit 3.95 kg CO2 less per square meter than volume elements.
