Skolkuratorn och hemmasittare. - En kvalitativ intervjustudie om hur skolkuratorer resonerar om det sociala problemet hemmasittare.

Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study was to increase an understanding of how school counselors in Sweden reason about the social problem with truants, “Hemmasittare '' in Swedish, and how the elementary schools work with this. To enable the purpose of the study to be maintained, a qualitative interview study became current. Seven semi-structured interviews with school counselors were conducted. The empirical material has subsequently been analyzed based on a neo-institutional theory. The study found a result where the school counselors´ explanations regarding the phenomenon varied. But some parts were similar to each other. The result shows that cooperation is an important part of the work, but something that is often difficult to achieve. Mainly cooperation with other professions involved. Related to this, an important finding was made in terms of a cooperation model to optimize cooperation between schools, BUP, and social services. Relationships were also presented as a success factor and a conclusive part of the work. Through the result, a common vision of working preventively was also produced at the same time that all school counselors described how emergency work with “hemmasittare” happens daily.
