Utifrån syftet togs tre hypoteser fram; (1) det finns statistiskt signifikanta samband mellan träningsberoende, livsstress och träningsrelaterade stressfaktorer, (2) livsstress och träningsrelaterad stress i samband predicerar träningsberoende, (3) det finns statistiskt signifikanta skillnader i livsstress och träningsrelaterade stressfaktorer mellan ironmandeltagare ́i risk för träningsberoende ́ och ironmandeltagare med ́få eller inga symptom på träningsberoende ́.
