1. Investigation of coarse-grid CFD approach for nuclear engineering application
Master-uppsats, KTH/FysikSammanfattning : In this thesis, an innovative coarse grid CFD approach is developed that aims toexploit the capabilities of sub-channel codes and CFD methods while overcoming theirlimitations. In the approach, a very coarse mesh is implemented in the CFD softwareOpenFOAM and a new wall treatment, based on the traditional concept of the wallfunction, is applied to the wall boundary conditions of the domain to take into accountthe low resolution of the grid which does not allow to effectively capture the effect of thesolid walls on the thermo-hydraulics of the flow. 2. BWR Reactor Fuel Channel Manufacturing Simulations
Master-uppsats, KTH/HållfasthetsläraSammanfattning : Fuel channels are used to keep the components of a nuclear fuel bundle in place. The fuel channel of a new nuclear fuel which is being developed at Westinghouse has a complex geometry which creates challenges in the manufacturing process. FE simulations were developed of a two-stage forming process of the fuel channel. LÄS MER
3. Development of the endurance test program and the assembly fixture for TRITON11™
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/InnovationSammanfattning : The engineers at Westinghouse Electric Company have developed a new nuclear fuel design called TRITON11™, which will be used in Boiling Water Reactors (BWR). This project has been to develop a test program and an assembly fixture for TRITON11™. The test program can not be fully presented in this repport due to confidentiality. LÄS MER
4. Kvantifiering av osäkerheter i lyftkraftsmodellen
Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad kärnfysikSammanfattning : With today´s power uprates in BWR reactors the bundle lift force has become aproblem. The lift force is calculated using a best estimate approach and the resultfrom the calculation should pass the existing lift force margin. Lift force margin isdefined so that the lift force may not exceed 80 % of the fuel weight. LÄS MER
5. Nuclear Fuel Bundle Design Optimization using a Simplex Method
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionenSammanfattning : A strategy for nuclear fuel bundle design optimization in boiling water reactors(BWRs), using a simplex method, is presented and examined. The objective of the study is to see how an automatic optimization scheme can create nuclear designs for use in BWR fuel bundles and how the scheme can be improved. LÄS MER
