1. Optimization of Gammasphere Data Following the Nuclear Reaction 36Ar + 24Mg → 60Zn∗
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysikSammanfattning : The experiment at Argonne National Laboratory aimed to study the fusion-evaporation reaction following the collision of a high-energy particle beam of 36Ar with a stationary target of 24Mg. This paper outlines the creation and implementation of an automated re-calibration procedure for the high-purity Germanium detectors comprising the Gammasphere array used for γ-ray spectroscopy in this experiment. 2. Determination of the source strength of an AmBe neutron source and design of flexible holder system for accurate measurements of ionising radiation
L2-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad kärnfysikSammanfattning : The goal of this project was to determine the source strength of an Americium-Beryllium neutron source by irradiating metal foils of different elements. The irradiated foils were then placed on a High Purity Germanium detector and γ-decay from the decay of the neutron induced reaction products was observed and used to deduce the neutron flux. LÄS MER
3. Test and Calibration of CUBES: a CubeSat X-ray Detector
Master-uppsats, KTH/FysikSammanfattning : CUBES is an X-ray detector that will be placed aboard the KTH 3U CubeSat mission, MIST. Its purpose is to detect high energy X-rays as well as to test various components in a space environment. Two CUBES will be placed on the satellite. Each CUBES consists of a printed circuit board (PCB) with three multi pixel photon counters (MPPCs). LÄS MER
4. PERFORMANCE OF THE PHOTODETECTOR FOR THE ACTIVE SHIELD OF THE COSI SPACE TELESCOPE
Master-uppsats, Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för system- och rymdteknikSammanfattning : The COmpton Spectrometer and Imager (COSI) is a space telescope that aims to study the soft gamma regime (0.2-5 MeV), capable of performing spectroscopy, imaging and polarimetry of cosmic gamma sources. 5. Nuclear Structure near the Proton Drip-line: A Search for Excited States in 62Ge
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionenSammanfattning : An experiment to study mirror symmetry in the mass A = 60 region was performed at the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) in 2020. The fusion-evaporation reaction 40Ca + 24Mg → 64Ge* at a beam energy of 106 MeV was used to populate excited states in 62Ge. LÄS MER
