6. The electricity demand andsupply in El Espino : Alternatives for diversification of renewabletechnologies
Kandidat-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknikSammanfattning : The use of alternative fuels, particularly renewable energy sources, has been an important strategy to achieve greenhouse gas emission reductions. In Bolivia, many rural areas struggle with an unreliable power supply. LÄS MER
8. Quantifying the Shadow Effect between Offshore Wind Farms with Idealized Mesoscale Models and Observed Wind Data
Magister-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : Two post processing methods for quantifying the shadow effect of the offshore wind farm Princes Amalia (PA) onto Egmond aan Zee (OWEZ) wind farm are analyzed and benchmarked. The first method is the author’s proposed shadow effect determination method (SEDM), which quantifies an offshore wind farm’s shadow effect based on mesoscale WRF (Weather Research Forecast) idealized modeling and the observed frequency of the analyzed site’s wind conditions. 9. Numerical Simulation of Diurnal Planetary Boundary Layer Effects and Diurnal Mountain-Wind Effects
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapsläraSammanfattning : The Weather Research and Forecasting Model was used to study its accuracy and representation in modelling a study area within a complex wind system as well as the effects on the model when using different input data and physics schemes. The complex wind system consists of diurnal mesoscale effects from the nearby Pyrenees mountain range and diurnal effects from the planetary boundary layer. LÄS MER
10. Implementation of machine learning to model losses from icing of wind turbines
Master-uppsats, KTH/Kraft- och värmeteknologiSammanfattning : This thesis investigates the possibility to use machine learning algorithms to predict the losses due to icing in the Stor-Rotliten wind farm that is situated in the north of Sweden and operated by Vattenfall. The inputs for the machine learning are historical mesoscale modelled variables that are derived from a Weather Research and Forecasting Model code that is tuned for icing (WRF-model). LÄS MER
