  1. 1. Developing Wastewater-based Early Warning System for the Detection of Disease Outbreaks and Emerging Variants with focus on SARS-CoV-2

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Industriell bioteknologi

    Författare :Ayda Kiyar; [2023]
    Nyckelord :wastewater-based epidemiology; early warning system; RT-qPCR; normalization; SARS-CoV-2; avloppsvattenbaserad epidemiologi; förvarningssystem; RT-qPCR; normalisering;

    Sammanfattning : Under covid-19-pandemin har avloppsvattenbaserad epidemiologi (WBE) använts i stor utsträckning som ett komplement till kliniska tester över många delar av världen. Detta projekt syftade till att detektera och kvantifiera belastningen av Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) i avloppsvattenprover med hjälp av Revers transkriptas kvantitativ polymeraskedjereaktion (RT-qPCR). 3. 3. Analys av narkotikapreparat i avloppsvatten : En indikation på narkotikaanvändningen i Umeå

    Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Marléne Eriksson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Illegal drugs; Wastewater-based epidemiology; Sweden; Umeå;

    Sammanfattning : Wastewater-based epidemiology can be used to analyse substances in wastewater and serve as a tool to examine the illegal drug consumption in a population. The aim of this study was to analyse concentrations of illegal drugs in wastewater from Öns wastewater treatment plant in Umeå, Sweden and i) compare concentrations of illegal drugs with previous studies from 11 and 9 years ago, ii) examine the weekly variation and iii) examine how Umeå's levels of drugs in wastewater relate to other cities in Sweden and Europe. 4. 4. THE USE OF ALTERNATIVE NORMALIZATION APPROACHES TO UNDERSTAND CHANGES IN SARS-CoV-2 CONCENTRATIONS IN WASTEWATER

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser

    Författare :Frida Isaksson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :wastewater-based epidemiology; SARS-CoV-2; normalization; population estimates; pepper mild mottle virus; clinical cases; infiltration inflow;

    Sammanfattning : Following the detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA fragments in wastewater in March 2020, the use of wastewater-based epidemiology is rapidly emerging as a non-invasive approach to assessing community wide COVID-19 prevalence. Wastewater-based epidemiology is promoted as a complement to clinical testing in terms of improving public health authorities’ preparedness and supporting them in taking required interventions to protect the public health. 5. 5. Improving SARS-CoV-2 analyses from wastewater

    Master-uppsats, Högskolan i Skövde/Institutionen för biovetenskap

    Författare :Israa Yahia Al Hag Ibrahim Dafalla; [2021]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) analyzes wastewater for the presence of biological and chemical substances to make public health conclusions. COVID-19 disease is caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) that infected individuals shed also in their feces, making WBE an alternative way to track SARS-CoV-2 in populations.
