  1. 11. The role of bed sediments for sorption of phosphorus in remediated ditches in Sweden

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, SLU/Dept. of Soil and Environment

    Författare :Linus Holgersson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Phosphorus; Two-stage ditch; Equilibrium phosphate concentration; Phosphorus retention; Eutrophication; Soluble reactive phosphorus;

    Sammanfattning : Human activities have increased nutrient losses to agricultural ditches and streams, including phosphorus. Phosphorus leakage leads to a worsening of water quality in downstream ecosystems, including lakes and seas. In addition, higher phosphorus concentrations lead to eutrophication, which negatively affects aquatic systems. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Methane and Carbon Dioxide Emissions From Three Smallscale Hydropower Stations in South of Sweden

    M1-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Tema Miljöförändring

    Författare :Edevardt Johan Danielsen; Alexandra Jonsson Valderrama; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Hydropower; Reservoir; Freshwater; automated Flux chambers; Emissions; Ebullition; Diffusion; Greenhouse gases; GHGs; Methane; CH4; Carbon dioxide; CO2; Dissolved oxygen; DO; Variability; Spatial; Temporal; Dissolved inorganic carbon.; Vattenkraft; Reservoar; Sötvatten; automatiserade Fluxkammare; Utsläpp; Ebullition; Diffusion; Växthusgaser; GHHs; Metan; CH4; Koldioxid; CO2; Löst syre; DO; Variabilitet; Rumslig; Temporal; Löst oorganiskt kol.;

    Sammanfattning : Over the past decades, evidence show that the anthropogenetic greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions of carbon dioxide (CO₂) and methane (CH₄) are the main drivers behind global warming and are becoming stronger. Globally, hydropower is among the main sources of renewable energy and the popular notion that hydropower electricity is carbon neutral has been under debate as evidence from measurements in different regions of the globe show significant and highly variable carbon emissions from hydropower reservoirs. 3. 13. An implementation of an autonomous IoT system for real-time water quality monitoring with 4G and satellite connection : CatFish - Embedded systems

    Kandidat-uppsats, Högskolan i Halmstad/Akademin för informationsteknologi

    Författare :Johan Elfing; Daniel Persson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :CatFish; Embedded System;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is about implementing an Internet of Things system for measuring water quality in rivers and other aquatic environments with an autonomous water drone, where the data from various components are collected and sent wirelessly to the database in real-time. A Raspberry Pi is connected to the internet through a 4G modem and a wireless satellite communication connection called RockBlock for emergency calls and notifications. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Geochemical tracing of Arsenic sources in groundwater at the remediated Storliden mine, Skellefte district

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser

    Författare :Matilda Edvardsson; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Arsenic; groundwater; Sulfide oxidation; Arsenopyrite; Storliden; remediation; Arsenik; grundvatten; sulfidoxidation; Arsenikkis; Storliden; efterbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : The Swedish mining industry has changed from the historical situation with several smaller mines to the present situation with a few, bigger mines. This results in presence of abandoned mines around Sweden. Remediation of mines is regulated by legislation and the present demands are considerably higher than it was some decades ago. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Identifying factors that correlate with Enhanced Biological Phosphorus Removal upsets at Lundåkraverket

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Rounak Niranjan; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Enhanced biological phosphorus removal; polyphosphate accumulating organisms; glycogen accumulating organisms; sludge content in aeration basin; nitrates in aeration basin; pH of incoming water; principal component analysis; pairwise correlations; inhibition factors;

    Sammanfattning : The Enhanced Biological Phosphorus Removal (EBPR) process is characterized as the most sustainable process to remove phosphorus from wastewater albeit with high variability in performance efficiency. Thus, unpredictable upsets in the EBPR system is the norm across several wastewater treatment plants throughout Sweden, forcing the hand of the operators to dose higher volume of chemicals to reach the effluent requirements.
