  1. 11. Spectroscopic model characterisation of hot exoplanet atmospheres

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Elin Sandvik; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Transit method; Transmission spectroscopy; Exoplanets; Hot Jupiter; Modelling; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : Hot Jupiters are gas giants under intense stellar radiation with short orbital periods of only a few days. Due to their large radii, hot temperatures, and large scale heights, hot Jupiters can be observationally characterised in detail through spectroscopy over an entire orbital phase. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Climate Simulations of an Exoplanet with a Slab Ocean: A 3D Model Intercomparison of various GCMs

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för fysik och astronomi

    Författare :Moa Biserud; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Climate simulations; GCM; ROCKE-3D; Exoplanet; Slab Ocean; Qflux=0;

    Sammanfattning : Three-dimensional (3D) planetary general circulation models (GCMs) have been derived from global climate models used to project 21st century changes in Earth's climate. GCMs are used to address questions regarding the climate-and habitability aspects of terrestrial planets within the solar system and assess the habitability of planets outside of the solar system, so called exoplanets. 3. 13. Assessing the relationship between hypoxia and life on Earth, and implications for the search for habitable exoplanets

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Thomas Evan Smith; [2022]
    Nyckelord :hypoxia; hypoxia-inducible factors; atmospheric oxygen; multicellularity; embryogenesis; exoplanets; white dwarfs; oxygen fugacity; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Atmospheric oxygen at the level of present-day Earth (21%) is generally regarded as permissive for the development and survival of complex multicellular life, such as animals. The hypothesis that oxic conditions are conducive for multicellular life has subsequently been applied to the search for life elsewhere in the universe, with planets exhibiting atmospheric oxygen of a similar level to Earth being considered as candidates for habitability. 4. 14. Exploring the Diversity of Exoplanets

    Master-uppsats, Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för system- och rymdteknik

    Författare :Rebecka Svensson; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Exoplanets; Super-Earth; Sub-Neptune;

    Sammanfattning : The search for extrasolar planets had been ongoing for many years when Mayorand Queloz discovered 51 Pegasi b in 1995. It was a giant gas planet similar to Jupiter, but with a larger radius and of only half of Jupiter’s mass. Theso called Hot Jupiter was observed to orbit its host star 7 times closer thanMercury is orbiting the Sun. LÄS MER

  5. 15. The magnetic fields of exoplanet hostM-dwarf stars : The magnetic fields of exoplanet hostM-dwarf stars

    L3-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Teoretisk astrofysik

    Författare :Thomas Herard; [2021]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The majority of stars in the Milky Way are M dwarfs whichmake up 75 % of stars in the vicinity of the sun. As the magneticfield of stars can significantly affect the interiors and theatmospheres of the exoplanets they host within the stellar system,characterising this magnetic field is of major importance.
