    Sammanfattning : The following study compares Carlos Fuentes’ “Chac Mool” (1954) with Elena Poniatowska’s “Coatlicue” (2003). Both literary works are short stories that belong to a literary genre known as the Fantastic, which is, in turn, a genre in which a reader will be met with a credible setting, not too different from their own, but in which various supernatural elements manifest themselves and disturb the stability and perception of the reader’s and/or the character’s reality.     Sammanfattning : The paper analyzes the concept of human security - freedom from fear, freedom from want and freedom to live in dignity - and it's political potential to respect human dignity. Is the concept (only) an academic philosophical challenge, or it is also directed towards mobilizing a political action that respect human dignity? The term 'security' has a mobilizing effect, which is why I chose to understand human security based on a slightly modified variant of Thierry Balzaq's securitization theory, which raises the question of how cases, in this case human dignity, is securitized.
