   Sammanfattning : The purpose with this descriptive study was to study the practice of remain in ordinary living for elderly and see how the principle can be applied even now and within the future. What is the principle of remain in ordinary living and how can it be applied? What is a special geriatric care home for elderly? Does the concept, special geriatric care home has to be explained, in order to understand the principle of remain in ordinary living for elderly? Is there any point when the need of care for elderly can’t be provided in ordinary living? Can expected cost increase and higher needs motivate a new direction of the geriatric care? As a complement to the literature used in this study, has four authorized workers been interview to see how they and their municipality reflect of the principle, remain in ordinary living for elderly.
