1. Tracing Tempera through Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry Analysing samples from four icons from the Nationalmuseum collection
Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för kulturvårdSammanfattning : This thesis will analyze samples in form of cross-sections taken from four icons of the Nationalmuseum collection, two Russian, from the 18th and 19th centuries and two Greek, also from the 18th and 19th centuries, using the Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Technique. The objective is to detect, isolate and, if possible, identify the amino acids and the fatty acids in the protein and lipids used in the tempera, the ground, and the olifa using Time of Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry. 2. EFFECTS OF COMMERCIAL NANO-LIME PRODUCTS AS A CONSOLIDATION METHOD FOR WALL PAINTINGS An experimental case study
Kandidat-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för kulturvårdSammanfattning : Some of the main deterioration problems concerning wall paintings is structural degradation of the wall painting and the flaking of the painted layer. Consolidation, both in the form of reinforcement of the rendering of the wall painting and the re-adherence of a flaking paint layer to the underlying substrate, have thus been an important part of conservation efforts concerning wall paintings. Kandidat-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för kulturvårdSammanfattning : Blanching is a common phenomenon affecting the binding medium within the paint, resulting in an abnormality of the paints light scattering. Multiple studies have confirmed that the change is the result of pore formation within the binding medium caused by humidity or water damage. LÄS MER
4. Flash Pulse Thermography Measurements of Coat Thickness
Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för fysikSammanfattning : The application of varnish, metal coats, and paint is a common practice for modifying or enhancing material properties. Metal coats are frequently used as protective layers against corrosion, heat, and wear, while also influencing characteristics like conductivity, weight, and production costs. LÄS MER
