  1. 1. Odensjön - A new varved lake sediment record from southern Sweden

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Hanna Hertzman; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Varved lake sediment; late Holocene; organic sediments; diatoms; land-use history; southern Sweden; palaeolimnology; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Annually laminated (varved) sediments provide opportunities to reconstruct climate change and human impact on the environment with high temporal resolution. Depending on the character of the varves, such sediments can provide insight into the delivery of both autochthonous and allochthonous material from the lake and its catch- ment and answer questions regarding both regional and local responses to climate- and land-use changes. 2. 2. Processes of lateral moraine formation at a debris-covered glacier, Suldenferner (Vedretta di Solda), Italy

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Monika Rabanser; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Lateral moraines; Moraine genesis; Moraine stability; Debris-covered glaciers; Clast shape; Alps; Sedimentology; Glacier fluctuations; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Lateral moraines are key features of glacial landscapes in high-alpine mountain areas. Research on lateral moraine formation is mostly limited to clean-ice glaciers; lateral moraine formation at the margins of debris-covered glaciers is currently poorly understood in an Alpine and sedimentological context. 3. 3. Modelling sediment connectivity in Swedish catchments and application for flood prediction of roads.

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Mark- och vattenteknik

    Författare :Carolina Cantone; [2016]
    Nyckelord :climate change; flooding; infrastructures; GIS; sediment connectivity; surface runoff; statistical modelling;

    Sammanfattning : Climate changes are predicted to increase precipitation intensities and occurrence of extreme rainfall events in the near future. Scandinavia has been identified as one of the most sensitive regions in Europe to such changes; therefore, an increase in the risk for flooding, landslides and soil erosion is to be expected also in Sweden. 4. 4. Upper slope sedimentation environments in the Gaoping river-sea system of SW Taiwan

    Kandidat-uppsats, Institutionen för geologiska vetenskaper

    Författare :Lina Hansson; [2013]
    Nyckelord :Marine geology; sediment; Pb210; Grain size; Taiwan; hyperpycnal;

    Sammanfattning : The Gaoping Slope, off the south west coast of Taiwan, is a tectonically active sedimentation environment attaining most of its sediment from the Gaoping River. This study examines sediment cores from two localities at 375 m and 495 m water depth by using X-radiography, Grain size- and 210Pb analysis, with the purpose of comparing the sedimentation environment at the two sites and examine how they were both affected by high sediment delivery during typhoon Morakot. 5. 5. Impacts of dams on lowland agriculture in the Mekong River catchment

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Fredrik Fredén; [2011]
    Nyckelord :physical geography; Mekong River catchment; dam building; floodplain agriculture; sediment delivery; floods; naturgeografi; Mekongflodens avrinningsområde; dammbygge; flodslättsjordbruk; sediment; översvämningar; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The Mekong River catchment on the Indochinese peninsula in Southeast Asia is currently one of the world’s most active regions in terms of hydropower planning and development. In recent decades China has launched a hydropower plan comprising eight large dams on the main stream river in the upper part of the catchment. LÄS MER
