  1. 1. Prospects for a Free Electron Laser at the FemtoMAX Beamline

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Johan Holmberg; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Free Electron Lasers; FEL; synchrotron radiation; MAX IV; FemtoMAX; GENESIS 1.3; XFEL; X-rays; soft X-rays; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : A Free Electron Laser (FEL), is a device that generates extremely coherent and brilliant radiation using electrons accelerated to relativistic velocities in a particle accelerator. The process utilises similar equipment to what is used at a synchrotron source like MAX IV, but in addition there is an interaction between the relativistic electron beam and the generated radiation to achieve an exponential growth in radiation intensity. 2. 2. Generation of attosecond X-ray pulses in free-electron lasers using electron energy modulation and undulator tapering

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/FREIA

    Författare :Karl-Fredrik Boholm Kylesten; [2023]
    Nyckelord :attosecond; free-electron laser; XFEL; self-amplified spontaneous emission; SASE; tapering; energy modulation;

    Sammanfattning : Free-electron lasers (FELs) are among the world's most intense artificial artificial sources of coherent light and are tunable to various wavelengths, including the X-ray spectrum. X-ray FELs (XFELs) are extremely useful for diffraction experiments to study molecules, materials, and quantum systems. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Design and Commissioning of an Ionization Intensity Monitor

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Atomfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Hanna Berg; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The dynamics of molecules and electrons takes place on timescales of femtoseconds and attoseconds, respectively. This requires ultrashort and intense extreme ultraviolet (XUV) pulses to be able to study them. LÄS MER
