  1. 1. Prospects for a Free Electron Laser at the FemtoMAX Beamline

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Johan Holmberg; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Free Electron Lasers; FEL; synchrotron radiation; MAX IV; FemtoMAX; GENESIS 1.3; XFEL; X-rays; soft X-rays; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : A Free Electron Laser (FEL), is a device that generates extremely coherent and brilliant radiation using electrons accelerated to relativistic velocities in a particle accelerator. The process utilises similar equipment to what is used at a synchrotron source like MAX IV, but in addition there is an interaction between the relativistic electron beam and the generated radiation to achieve an exponential growth in radiation intensity. 2. 2. Investigation of thermal conductivity in thin graphite films through time-resolved X-ray diffraction

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Atomfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Axel Stenquist; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Ultra fast X-ray diffraction; graphite; thin graphite films; thermal conductivity; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : Knowledge about thermal properties of nanoscale graphite is essential in order to realize the many promising applications of carbon based nanomaterials. This thesis reports how samples of thin graphite films on nickel substrates were investigated using time-resolved X-ray diffraction (TRXD) at the FemtoMAX beamline at the MAX IV facility. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Characterization of Terahertz Radiation Generated in an Organic Crystal

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Atomfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Åsa Bengtsson; [2016]
    Nyckelord :Nonlinear optics; Terahertz radiation generation; Optical rectification; Difference frequency generation; Organic crystal; DSTMS; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The terahertz region of the electromagnetic spectrum is an important research area allowing insights into fundamental science such as inter-molecular interactions, and with applications in the environmental, medical and security field. Using femtosecond lasers, it is possible to design compact and efficient terahertz generation schemes, resulting in few-cycle broadband pulses. LÄS MER
