16. Urban Farming: Production comparison of Basil and Oak Leaf lettuce in two hydroponic growing systems : an industrial collaborated study in Sweden
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Biosystems and Technology (from 130101)Sammanfattning : The modern agriculture of the world is facing huge challenges in terms of increasing scarcity of natural resources such as water and land. The increase in global population is not only enabling in expansion of big cities but also raising questions of accommodating and feeding this amount of population. LÄS MER
17. Business model innovation associated with vertical farming in Sweden : case study of Swegreen
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of EconomicsSammanfattning : The pressure on the food supply chain caused by increasing urbanization across the world is a concern. The purpose of this study is to develop understanding of how business model innovation is used with the introduction of a new production technology in the Swedish agri-food sector focusing on the vertical farming. 18. Hydroponic farming and circular economy : implementation of circular economy into hydroponic production
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of EconomicsSammanfattning : Vertical hydroponic farming presents an emerging industry that could soften the blow of conventional farming. Hydroponic farming is a form of controlled environment agriculture, which is usually situated indoors, and the plants grow in the absence of soil. LÄS MER
19. Vertical Farming Sustainability and Urban Implications
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : Meeting current and future demands for food is one of the biggest problems facing the world today. Despite the positive correlation that exists between food production and urban food demand, food systems remain separate and excluded from cities. Vertical farming has been proposed as a solution projected to address these issues in a sustainable way. LÄS MER
20. Implementation of machine learning to model losses from icing of wind turbines
Master-uppsats, KTH/Kraft- och värmeteknologiSammanfattning : This thesis investigates the possibility to use machine learning algorithms to predict the losses due to icing in the Stor-Rotliten wind farm that is situated in the north of Sweden and operated by Vattenfall. The inputs for the machine learning are historical mesoscale modelled variables that are derived from a Weather Research and Forecasting Model code that is tuned for icing (WRF-model). LÄS MER
