Sammanfattning: First line managers work environment within muncipal disabled care The aim of the present study was to investigate how first line managers within municipal disabled care perceive their work environment regardin workload and social support, and what form of organizational measures are offered to reduce workload and offer social support. Four front line managers were interviewed in this qualitative study. Two of them work with personal assistance and two work at nursing homes with special services. The interviews showed that the first line managers within municipal disabled care are unanimous in their belief that they have a high workload and no adequate way of changing it. The results also show that the organizational measures often are insufficent. According to the deman-control-support model this displays a high strain working environment where there is a risk of psychosocial stress. Regarding the societal perspective, it is relevant to raise awareness regaring first line managers working environment because in extension it affects the quality of the human-related work.
