Sammanfattning: The main purpose of this study was to investigate young girls´ and boys´ socialization in sport involvement and what keeps them motivated do continue. This study is based on a qualitative method. I have interviewed three girls and three boys, all between 15 and 16 years of age. My main questions were; what kind of sports is he/she active in, who introduced him/her to sports, what keeps him/her motivated to exercise, what do they get from exercising ? The results of the analysis showed that both girls and boys think of exercise as an important part of their lives. They where all introduced to sports by their parents, mostly by their fathers. The girls thought that the main reason why they exercise is to meet friends and have fun. Boys agreed to that and also said that school always has to come first before training. The main difference between these children was that some of them (mostly the girls) did not know if a future career in sports is to anticipate, or if school becomes more time-consuming and there will be no time for exercise. All of the girls and the boys were sure of what sports they prefer to practice and want to continue practicing. All of them explained how training makes them feel good and why they like being active.
