Rondellhund, Rebellhund eller Byracka- Vilken syn på yttrandefrihet framkommer i debatten?

Sammanfattning: In 2007 Lars Vilks, a Swedish artist, was embroiled in a controversy after he made a drawing depicting the Islamic prophet Muhammad as a roundabout dog. The drawing was attended for a local art exhibition but never shoed due to the organizers fear for threats and security concerns. The Örebro- based regional newspaper Nerikes Allehanda published the drawing to illustrate an editorial on freedom of speech. This started an intense debate in the Swedish media about self-censorship and freedom of expression. This thesis analyses the debate that carried on about Lars Vilks, and his art which by many is seen as provocative and insulting. I have chosen to describe the debate seen from three different perspectives. All stress arguments to whether this kind of art even should be created and later on shown to the public. The argument shows how freedom of speech is perceived. My intention is to investigate the view on freedom of speech in Sweden. I also want to explore the limits of freedom of expression which emerge.
